We’ve just secured another contract which typifies this approach, following a successful tender for the extension of a prestigious detached house in Sowerby Bridge.
Occupying one of the town’s most desirable residential locations, the high-end bespoke project has been designed by Gagarin Studio Limited, a client-focused, RIBA chartered practice. The company’s highly experienced, award-winning team has a particular interest in the creative re-use of existing buildings which has been applied to striking effect with the creation of an exciting concept. The rear of the building will be transformed when the existing kitchen becomes a substantial open-plan dining kitchen awash with natural light through an extensively glazed elevation and roof lights. The dining area flows through to an equally impressive living room, also extensively glazed, with a stylish window seat providing economy of space.
Ashfield is also extending the first-floor space with the creation of a new bathroom and en-suite bedroom which sit above the new living room. As with every project of this nature, it will be vital to ensure that the appearance is seamless between old and new whilst refreshing the overall aesthetic. The extended areas will feature matching blue slate roofing and stonework complemented by new features such as oil cedar cladding and etched glazing. We are also incorporating aluminium windows and bi-fold doors, contemporary glass balustrade and internal finishes to our characteristically high standard. Externally Ashfield will form a canopy to part of the rear elevation and an access ramp along with associated low-level walling and paving.
