Ashfield Building Group are proud to announce the completion of an exceptional project in Ilkley, delivering an outstanding new home which combines the best in contemporary aesthetics and building performance.
We collaborated with Sense of Space, an award-winning architectural practice, to develop a two bedroom property which is an exemplar for highly sustainable, energy-efficient living. The project’s signature eco-friendly feature is an MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) system which provides fresh filtered air into the building whilst retaining most of the energy that has already been used in heating it. A range of other elements has been incorporated to reduce the carbon footprint, including photovoltaic panels and a proprietary green roof secured on powder-coated aluminium facias and trims.
Internally the property is beautifully appointed with hardwood flooring, bi-fold doors to both floors, highly specified kitchen and luxurious fittings to the bathroom and WC/cloakroom. Its contemporary interior is complemented with the use of natural external materials – including richly textured stone and timber cladding – which add a traditional twist to the modern appearance of the building. Full-height glazing and a glass Juliet balcony maximise the benefits of natural light.
Ashfield Building Group Director, Joel Ramsden, said:
“We always relish taking on projects at the forefront of sustainable building and there is no doubt that this property fits that description with a concept driven by Sense of Space’s renowned design vision. The results are very impressive and Ashfield is proud to add this project to our prestigious portfolio.”
All of the teams and stakeholders involved in the project agree with Ashfield’s assessment of the finished article. The clients, Nick and Pamela Pierce, offered glowing praise for Ashfield’s ability to deliver a combination of desirable living space and outstanding levels of building performance:
“Many thanks to Ashfield for crafting our sustainable, low energy, forever home. As novice developers, we began with considerable trepidation and probably fell foul of every pitfall going, but Krystian and his Ashfield team were always on hand to help us through and find the best solutions to the inevitable challenges. An airtightness result of under 3m3/hr/m2, is a testament to Ashfield’s care and attention to detail during construction. The end result is a lovely home, with energy rating A, delivered under budget.”
